Major League Baseball is one of the highest paying major sports, paying even average players more than the elite players of the NFL (National Football League) and NBA (National Basketball Association). At the same time, it is much safer than these other two sports, especially football. Furthermore, many players can play into their late thirties and early forties without much of a problem, and without taking as severe a toll on their bodies as other sports would demand. All of these advantages make for an enjoyable and safe profession, with many advantages during and after one's career is over.
